NewsWith news sites posting about every and any occurring event it can become difficult to narrow down the news you want to read efficiently. Fortunately there are multiple aggregation websites out there that can be personalised and cater for the news you want to read.

Drippler

Starting with Drippler, which is more of a aggregation site for gadgets and tech. If you choose to sign up you’ll be able to select from a growing range of gadgets to follow news on. Once you have what gadgets you would like to track the ‘My Gadgets’ page will give you a selection of news stories about each individual gadget. You can also opt-in to receive a weekly email outlining the stories of each gadget for the week. The stories range from rumours and reviews to tips and tricks.

YourVersion

As a general all over news aggregator, YourVersion is easily personalised to what topics you’re interested in. Not only is it web based but YourVersion also has various mobile apps and browser extensions along side an email updates service. Add your interests, for example ‘Web 2.0′ or ‘Politics’ and the site will pull news from various sources such as news sites, blogs, Twitter, video and more. Your topics are synced across all your devices and you can apply filters to view certain news and certain sources or just view all. It’s easy to share and bookmark articles and news you like.

Google News

If you have seen Google News before but not really looked at it, then I suggest you do  as it’s a great aggregator of ongoing news. You often see it at the top of a search term if it’s trending or is an unfolding story. Filters can be applied to see different areas and the time scale since they were discovered. Each news story often has a large number of accompanying links to other news sources which is great for getting the most of a news story. Personalisation includes local news, the ability to add and remove sections and suggested stories from what you search for. There is a mobile site and when you search for a specific item there is an option to set up email alerts.

iCurrent

Finally we have iCurrent which boasts a personalised front page that you set up by adding ‘channels’ which are basically tags and topics. Stories are aggregated for your interested and placed on your personal home page. You can keep news fresh and discover new news by ‘tuning’ which is virtually voting up and down stories if you like them or not. As with the other sites, there is also a mobile version and email updates.
